Dr. Sivakumaran trained for a year in the obstetrics and gynaecology department at the royal north shore hospital and obtained a diploma from royal australian and new zealand college of obstetricians and gynaecologists in 2003. During this period, she also obtained additional qualifications and received her diploma in child health from westmead children's hospital in association with university of sydney.
